Abstract

This research addresses the growing demand for connectivity in urban areas, where limitations in coverage, stability, and quality of Internet service persist. The objective is to optimize CNT EP's GPON network in an urban canton through an analysis of its infrastructure, performance, and management. A mixed-method methodology with a descriptive and cross-sectional design was applied, combining documentary review, technical observation, user surveys, and an interview with the network manager and administrator. The results revealed splitter saturation, high optical losses, lack of network reserves, and coverage deficiencies in expansion sectors. In response, the study proposes a topology redesign, redistribution of optical splitters, network expansion, incorporation of reserves, and proactive monitoring tools. It is concluded that technical optimization improves service scalability and reliability; therefore, progressive implementation and future extension of the model to a broader sample are recommended.
